Memories

Yesterday I went to my mom, & dads house... I try to make a point of doing this at least once a month, I live quite aways away from them.. A little history... Mom has diabetes, has had one heart attack, and is on dialysis, dad has emphysema and has a hard time with breathing at times, Although my oldest sister lives with them ( she works and helps with their needs) I wish I could get over more often to help. They have this to do list for when I come over (my idea) so that anything they find needs to be done that they can't do I can do it for them. I completed what was on the list, sat down to visit a little before heading home, mom has me go get a box for her( her memory box) we proceed to walk down memory lane, Man I love doing that... She pulled out the first love letter to her from dad it was dated 10/12/54 ,I pointed out to mom that that was my daughters B-Day how ironic is that?(except the year of course)
Dad told us a story about when he moved the family here from back east I thought I would share because it is so funny... He and my uncle traveled out west first to establish a job and home, along their travels they found this lizard they thought was really neat and kinda pretty, so they caught it and put it in a box and put it on the back seat as they are traveling along they come across this bar so they decide to have a drink and find out what kind of lizard they have... Well when they bring it into the bar and ask this fellow what it is he starts hollering and then suddenly the whole bar clears out... Then the bar tender yells at them to get the GD thing out of his tavern, well dad and uncle bob are confused and take it out and put it back in the car... They go back into the bar to finish their drinks and a fella comes up and asks them what kind of idiots are they and where the hell are they from, dad comments that they are far from being idiots and that they are from back east moving out here to Arizona, The man says oh lord and proceeds to teach them about desert critters and their dangers, turns out they had caught themselves a Gila monster.

Scary

Lets see, Everything seemed back to normal My daughter T is now home... We went to the store, she needed to develop her pics she took while away. We finished that journey
and went home to have dinner uneventful evening called it a night and went to bed... At about 3:00 am I awoke to the smell of something burning needless to say that jolted my tired ass right out of bed... On the run through the house looking for the source,
I notice that no air is coming from the vents, so I bolt for the switch to turn off power to the cooler then go and wake up Randy, By this time I have the animals going coo-coo barking and running around ( we have two dogs & a cat). T is still sound asleep so I figure she must really be exhausted... After I get Randy up he runs out back and finds the cooler still smoking, so he made sure he unplugs the whole thing and there is no power to it, and that there will be no danger through the night and he can get a better look in the morning... We go back to bed ... Get up and R goes out to assess the damage, Low and behold to add insult to injury he manages to get stung by a Scorpion of course this is not good I freak out and want to call poison control he insists he is a Scorpio so he is immune pissing me off because he is now not being reasonable, all in all we find that he is okay ( this is several hours later )... Back to the cooler, UGH we discover we will be without a cooler for about 11 days. Thank god I woke and it wasn't worse is all I can say.

Life

I have spent the last couple of days in a hospital ICU waiting room, A dear friend of my family had a brain aneurysm , and it does not look good for him, He is laying in a comma as I write this. I feel so for his family.

On a happier note my daughter is due home today after a two week vacation. It will be time now to get ready for the start of school soon.

What a day

What a day... Well it started off smoothly enough, did the usual cleaning of the house. After finishing that task decided I felt like baking some cookies, as I am preparing to do this my husband Randy tells me he thinks he is going to go and start painting the bathroom. I have been wanting this done for awhile so I'm excited about that. About thirty minutes later I have some cookies cooled and decide to take Randy a couple to try. I am just about to the doorway and I can here him working, I hear the tape tear, all of the sudden there is a bunch of racket and this blue blob goes flying by me... Turns out its the cat... The tearing of the tape scared her, she jumped and landed in the paint and is now running through the house bouncing off the walls, as I am running after the cat hollering get the cat, Randy is yelling the floor... And then get the dog because she is now chasing the cat through the house ...I am so freaking out because there is paint getting everywhere. Well Randy finally gets a hold of the cat I get a hold on the dog and quickly rush her out to the back yard come back in and try to help Randy with the cat who is now attempting to rinse the paint off the crazy cat in the kitchen sink... What a sight that is! We manage to get the paint off the cat by this time she is good and pissed at us. Now we have to go through the house and clean up paint from every place the cat hit or landed on... It took us awhile but we did manage to clean all the paint up without leaving a trace of the ruckus.

Here I sit

Here I sit, thinking that I now understand just how lonely my mother and sister felt when the last of their children left home. I can remember telling them to enjoy the quiet. Needless to say I don't think I will be giving that advice again! Peace and quiet is definitely over rated. Just to think I am feeling this way and my youngest just went on a two week vacation with a friend and will be home soon, I can't wait. I have decided she can't leave home until she is at least thirty, she just doesn't know it yet. I am glad that she plans on going to a college close to home.
